Emma Meekins Obituary

Emma Williams Meekins of Bridgeport, Connecticut, entered the presence of the Lord on July 1, 2025. Emma was the fifth child of thirteen children of Alfred and Eula Williams. This sophisticated Southern girl from Henderson North Carolina, in the late 1950s, travelled to Connecticut and Emma accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. She later joined Rehoboth Church of God in Christ and married (Retired) Officer "Ted" Meekins Sr. in 1962. To this union they were blessed with four children. A Lifelong member of Rehoboth Church of God in Christ, she served in many capacities; President of the Senior Usher Board, an awesome alto in the choir, the Liturgical coordinator, a prayer warrior and Pastor's Aid. Known to give God praise in the dance and dance she did!! Emma enjoyed being a Home Health Care Professional. Emma was predeceased by her parents, nine siblings, and one great grand Angel. Left to carry her legacy are her children Theophilus (LaShake) Meekins, Liza Meekins, Diane (Edward) Reynolds, and Lynn Meekins; Loved by Two brothers, one sister, a Goddaughter, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grands, a host of family and friends. On Saturday 7/19/25, at Rehoboth COGIC, 72 Beardsley Street, Bpt, CT services as follows: 8-9 a.m. Viewing, 9-10:30 a.m. Funeral Services. Burial 11-12noon Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave., Bpt, CT. Repast 1p-4p at Dynasty Venue, 500 Hallett St., Bpt, CT.

Greetings family and condolences again for your mom who was beautiful both inside and out. Wanted you all to know I hated the circumstances surrounding our meeting on yesterday only because it was too soon for us. We can take comfort in knowing we will all be together on day. But until then I wanted you to know that I truly enjoyed being in your company, fellowshipping and worshiping together. Emma Meekins was my godmother. In recent years, whenever I'd visit Bridgeport, I'd make every effort to stop by and see her. As my godmother, I looked to her as my living connection to my own mother. It was about this time last year that I was in town. My youngest son Andrew, was with me. She was so gracious to both of us and she loved meeting him for the first time. Over the past year we would occasionally call each other, just to share a kind word and encouragement. Yes, I am saddened but unlike the world, I have hope that I will see my kind, loving, godmother again. We prayed together over the phone and her faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was unwavering. It is in this hope that we both shared that I know we will one day meet again.
