Naugatuck, CT Emma Picado, 96, the widow of Americo Picado, died peacefully
April 21, 2023 at her home.
Emma was born May 20, 1926 in Aveiro, Portugal daughter of the late José
Ricardo and Angela Barreto. Emma worked as a seamstress and a factory worker
at Uniroyal Inc. and Risdon Manufacturing before retiring in 1992.
Emma enjoyed her trips to Portugal, spending time with friends and family,
especially with her three great-granddaughters. She was a parishioner of Our Lady
of Fatima Church and a member of the Clube Uniao Portuguesa Ladies Auxiliary.
Emma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Manuel Rodrigues of
Naugatuck; her grandchildren, Paulo Rodrigues and wife Laurie of Wolcott, Carlos
Rodrigues and wife Jennifer of Middlebury; and great-granddaughters Julianna
and Selena Rodrigues of Wolcott, and Emma Rodrigues of Middlebury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00am at
Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Everyone attending
is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. In honor of Emma, please wear
Spring colors to celebrate her life. Burial will be private and there are no calling
hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral
Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Emma's
memory, donations are requested to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box
840692, Dallas, TX 75284. To
