Emmadeane Worrell Obituary

Emmadeane (Bays) Worrell (Emmie), 98, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away January 6, 2025. She was born May 5, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late William (Bill) Jones (Bud) and Juanita May (Jones) Dunwiddie. Emmie graduated from Tech High School and attended University of Indianapolis for her secretarial degree. She worked at H.P. Wasson & Co. and then for the US Rubber Company. She worked as a secretary for RCA for years and a legal secretary for Indiana Rehabilitation Service for many years until she retired.

She was a magnificent lifetime seamstress. She could create anything on the sewing machine and have it perfect in a snap. After she retired, she started making gorgeous Victorian clothes for porcelain dolls. She could make doll clothes for any doll. From Barbies to 3 foot dolls. The detail was fabulous. She also was a great cook and loved Chinese memorabilia. She found them fascinating.

She was a good Christian woman and a long-time member of Northern Park Baptist church, 1589 Averitt Rd, Greenwood, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Mack Arnold Bays, Virgil Worrell; sister, Carol Clark.

Emmie is survived by her children, Steve Bays and his wife Pam; Joy (Bays) Gabbard; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bays) Wiles, Jason Gabbard, Clint Bays; sisters, Marion Hayworth; nieces and nephews, Daryl Hayworth and his wife, Gidget, Tracie (Hayworth) Kane, Jessica Kopp, Jared Kane; several great-grandchildren.

Everyone loved her. She was the sunshine in everyone's life. She greeted everyone with warmth and openness. Emmie will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

Emmie has been our wonderful neighbor.for many years. She always had a moment to chat, asking about our two sons who are grown, and living out of state. Our youngest was a favorite of Emmie's first husband, Mack. He helped Mack set the concrete blocks when he converted the garage into Emmie's sewing room for the creation of her dolls. Emmie will be very much missed and fondly remembered. Prayers for comfort to her family and friends.
