I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord." Psalm 121:1–2
Emmanuel Vote Aggreh, was born on September 23, 1955, in Aladja, Nigeria, to Tamu and Madiro Aggreh. He entered eternal rest on November 3, 2025. Emmanuel built a life marked by determination, kindness, and unwavering faith. In 1974, he made the bold decision to relocate to California to pursue higher education, a courageous step that opened doors to lifelong achievements and new beginnings. After relocated to California Emmanuel met and married Brenda Lee and from this union they had two children, Alyssia and Ediri. Emmanuel was a devoted father and considered them the pride of his life. He was also part of a large and loving family as one of 21 siblings, each of whom played a special role in shaping the man he became. Education was one of Emmanuel's greatest passions. He believed wholeheartedly in the power of learning and worked tirelessly to achieve his goals. He attended California State University, Stanislaus, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, followed by a master's degree in public administration-achievements he carried with immense pride throughout his life. For over 31 years, Emmanuel dedicated his career to Caltrans as a transportation planner, using his expertise and steady commitment to improve the daily lives of Californians. His work ethic was unwavering, his integrity steadfast, and his contributions meaningful and lasting. A strong and faithful believer, Emmanuel attended Water of Life Church, where he found community, joy, and spiritual strength. His faith guided every season of his life and shaped the way he loved, served, and cared for others. Emmanuel was deeply committed to the growth, unity, and success of the Nigerian community both in the United States and abroad. He believed strongly in staying connected to his cultural heritage and supporting efforts that uplifted others. Throughout his life, he actively participated in organizations devoted to unity, cultural pride, and community advancement, including Emo R' Udu of North America, Aladja Eminent Sons and Daughters, and the Urhobo Progress Union of Southern California. Emmanuel had a spontaneous spirit and a true love for being out in the world, finding joy in every moment he could. He especially loved riding his bike, often taking long rides through the community where he enjoyed the scenery and even met new friends along the way. He also found great happiness in his gardening, tending a collection of fruits, vegetables, plants, and flowers that he nurtured with care and pride. He enjoyed a good round of golf as well, creating his own space at home to enjoy the game. The beach was one of his favorite escapes, offering him space to relax, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of nature. He cherished good music and good food, sharing many of those joyful experiences with his family and friends. Emmanuel's warm presence, easy laughter, and kind heart touched everyone he encountered, leaving behind memories filled with love and light. Emmanuel's legacy is one of love, resilience, and faith. He leaves behind his former wife, Brenda Aggreh of Brownsville, TN; loving daughter Alyssia Aggreh-Caver (Curtis Jr.) of Jackson, MS; his loving son Ediri Aggreh of Newark, NJ; and three cherished grandchildren-Ethan Aggreh, Zuri Aggreh, and Eli Aggreh. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will forever carry his memory with gratitude and affection. A special message: "A life well lived doesn't end-it echoes through those who loved him." ________________________________________
