Janice June (Brady) Jacobson was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on February 12, 1935 to Otto and Beatrice Brady. She passed away on November 10, 2025 in Redlands, California.

She graduated from Southwest Oklahoma State University in 1953 before moving to Lubbock, Texas, to teach. While in Lubbock, she met her husband, Jake, at the Lutheran church they both attended. The pastor suggested that he introduce her to “a nice young Air Force officer,” and less than a year later, she and Lt. Lloyd S. (Jake) Jacobson, were married.

Jake was stationed in Delaware when they married, and Jan taught school in Dover. Their son, Eric, was born in Dover at the base hospital on December 3, 1959.

After four years at Dover AFB, they were assigned to San Angelo, Texas, and their daughter, Kristin, was born there on March 11, 1962. After six months training, Jake was sent on a 15-month remote tour to Japan and Janice “kept the home fires burning” while he was away.

After Jake's remote tour in Japan, they were stationed at McChord AFB, Washington for five years. When Jake wasn't flying to the Pacific, Alaska, and Southeast Asia, they boated, water-skied, fished, and clammed. Jan was the president of the Officers’ Wives Club and continued teaching full-time, when Jake was assigned to Anchorage, Alaska.

Jan continued teaching full-time and also earned her Master’s degree while living in Alaska. They continued to enjoy time in the great outdoors as a family. Jake served a 13-month remote tour in Korea during this time, and when he returned they were transferred to Norton AFB in 1973. They bought a house in Redlands, where they lived for 53 years, until Jan’s passing. She taught at Moore Junior High for 24 years, until her retirement from teaching in 1997

After retirement, they began traveling and going to Elderhostel (now Road Scholar) programs and playing golf several times a week. Jan also enjoyed playing bridge. Jan was an active member of First Lutheran Church, the Redlands Country Club, the Orange Empire Military Officers Club, and the California Retired Teachers Association. She volunteered her time to write educational grants for the Redlands Educational Partnership Foundation and several schools in the district for another 16 years after her retirement.

Jan always said that she loved being an “Air Force wife.” She got to see all 50 states in the union and met people from around the world, many of whom became lifelong friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kristin K. Jacobson, in 1976 and a son, Eric L. Jacobson, in 2001. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lloyd S. (Jake) Jacobson of Redlands.
