Emmanuel Ramirez Diaz, 46
Pizzaiolo
Emmanuel Ramirez Diaz, lovingly known as "Manny", born on October 8, 1978, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 9, 2024. He was surrounded by his family at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. During a one week ER hospital stay, Manny was diagnosed with Infective Endocarditis. An infection in his blood was attacking his heart, kidneys, and liver. The doctors acted quickly. Within two days, he underwent both open heart surgery and dialysis. He was then put on ECMO. Despite all the surgeries and doctor's efforts, Manny did not survive.
Emmanuel Ramirez was born in the town of Tilzapotla Morelos, Mexico. He was the second youngest of five children of humble parents. He was predeceased by his father, Mariano Antonio Ramírez Millán, and is survived by his loving mother, Angelina Díaz Gatica.
Manny is survived by his four sisters, Esmeralda Ramírez Díaz, Joana Ramírez Díaz, Mariana Ramírez Díaz, and Karime Ramírez Díaz.
He is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Florencia Ibarra Berrocal. He is survived by his father-in-law, Fernando Berrocal Sr., brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Salvador Berrocal and Isabel Pavia Berrocal, Fernando Berrocal and Christina Somma Berrocal, Nicandro Merino and Karina Berrocal Merino, and Jorge Berrocal and Sandra Elizabeth Ochoa Duran. Manny was a loving cousin and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Manny arrived in the United States of America in 1995 at the age of 17. He was intent on learning English and did very well with it. At the age of 20 he met the love of his life, Verónica Berrocal, and they were married on December 9, 2000. Ironically, Manny passed away on December 9, 2024, on the very day of their 24th wedding anniversary.
Manny is survived by his son, Joshua Ramírez (age 23) and daughter, Yarani Ramírez (age 20.) He was a proud and loving family man. His wife, son, and daughter were everything to him. His beautiful family was his first priority. Manny cherished his Mondays off and called it his "family day." He especially loved his Monday family dinners.
He was a hard working man. He was so proud to provide for and take care of his family. Manny loved all the songs of Mexico like rancheras. He especially loved Amor Prisionero.
Manny's trade was a professional pizzaiolo. He was a master at his craft and a true artist. The pizzeria was his second home and his coworkers were his extended family and best friends. They were his brothers. Manny deserves to be remembered as a good-hearted person, who always gave the best of himself. He was a cheerful, kind and respectful man. He was always the first to lend a helping hand. Always quick witted, with a funny one liner to make a customer laugh.
We will always carry Emmanuel Ramirez in our hearts. Rest easy Manny.
