Gyaki, Emmy

Born Emmy Lou Edwards, Emmy was born in Jefferson City, to a prominent family with connections to state politics. She and her family survived the Great Depression and World War II. After graduating high school, she married her high school sweetheart Joseph William ("Bill") Gardiner and they had three children Josie, Katie and Georgia. After Bill was killed in the Korean War, Emmy moved near Sportsman's Park to join her parents where they saw the 1964 world series. Emmy had a love for the arts and became part of a theater company producing and performing plays for dinner theater performed on the Goldenrod Showboat in the 1950:s and 60's. It was through her acting that she met and married Joe Gyaki with whom they started a tool and dye business.
After the birth of her first grandson David, Emmy turned her focus to service, becoming a social worker from which she retired in 1991.
Emmy stayed in St. Louis and assisted in her son-in-law's medical office before moving to Watertown, Wisconsin in 2013.
A lifelong Cardinals fan and avid moviegoer, Emmy saw every world series from 1964 to 2011. She also watched movies in 10 decades.
Emmy is survived by her 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

I'm so sorry I'm just learning of her passing. I am Molly Gillis/Long/Gladden daughter, Carol Pfluger. I loved my Aunt Emmy very much and wish I would of stayed in contact with her after we were reconnected at my Mom's funeral. Rest in Peace Aunt Emmy. I'm sure my Mom was delighted to see you!
