Emory Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. - Federalsburg on Mar. 22, 2025.
Emory Davis, 91, passed away peacefully at Bayleigh Chase in Easton, MD on March 20, 2025 surrounded by family members and caring staff.
Emory was born on March 18, 1934 in Easton, MD, the son of the late Henry H. Davis and Florence Lane Davis. He spent his youth in Cordova, MD and would often ride his horse in and around the area. A lover of all things related to the Eastern Shore, he was often fishing, working outdoors, or tinkering around the house. He attended Cordova High School and married the love of his life, Mary Jane on January 11, 1954. They welcomed their son Ricky in July of 1954. Emory also enlisted in the United States Army in 1954, where he would spend time in Germany and Austria before returning to the United States. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1962. He worked and eventually retired from the Department of Corrections in Jessup, MD in 1989. Emory and Mary Jane were married for 52 wonderful years and resided in Salisbury, MD until Mary Jane's passing in 2005. They had a wonderful network of friends and organizations, including the Pioneer's and Happy Timers, both in Salisbury. Emory and Mary Jane loved to travel and would often take road trips around the country. One of his fondest memories was a road trip that spanned the coastline around the United States.
After Mary Jane's passing, Emory moved back to Easton, MD. He always enjoyed the simpler things in life and was grateful for what each day had to offer. He loved working in his garden, a meal shared with family, going to Rise Up coffee with his son, and listening to music from many local artists, particularly the Jones Boys. In 2017, he entered assisted living at Bayleigh Chase. He never lost his love of music and dancing and continued to participate in the many activities that were offered.
Emory is survived by his son, Richard Davis (Kim), granddaughter Kaleigh Williams (Jake), 3 great-grandchildren, Lane, Knox, and Millie Williams, and niece Cheryl Sipes. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Mary Jane, and nephew Roger Layton. Emory was blessed with a long life filled with the love of all who knew him. His quick smile and gregarious spirit will not soon be forgotten.
Please join us for a visitation that will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00am at Framptom Funeral Home at 216 N. Main Street, Federalsburg, MD. Following the visitation, there will be a ceremony at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery 6827 E New Market Ellwood Rd, Hurlock, MD 21643 at 1pm.
