He was born on December 8, 1933, in Quebrada Honda, San Lorenzo in Puerto Rico to the late Catalino and Josefa (de la Rosa) Roldán. He was the oldest male of 13 brothers and sisters. In 1960 Encarnación married the late Evangelina Rivera from Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. They went on to have 57 wonderful years of marriage spent between Puerto Rico, New York, and Chicago.
While in New York, he worked in the famous Garment District and as a taxi driver. In Chicago, he continued as a taxi driver until joining the Symon Corp., which he retired from in 1996. He spent his days scratching off lottery tickets, watching lucha libre and Family Feud, as well as caring for and transporting his beloved grandchildren.
Encarnación is survived by his children, Eva M. Garcia (Juan), Maria E. Garcia, and Rosemarie Villalobos (Johnny); his grandchildren, Yadira Quintanilla (Melissa), Darius Villalobos (Lissette) and Yesenia Villalobos (Edwin); and his great-grandchildren, Mateo and Carisa Weyer; as well as friends and extended family. Encarnacion was predeceased by his wife, Evangelina Roldán, and his son, Encarnacion "J.R." Roldán Jr.
Visitation will be from 4pm – 8pm on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Casey & Rios Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9am on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Sylvester Church (Jesus, Bread of Life Parish). Interment will follow services at Rosehill Cemetery.
