Devoted to her family and her faith
WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Eneida (Reyes) Betancourt, age 80 of Waterbury, on Saturday, August 03, 2024, at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Wilfredo Betancourt.
Eneida was born August 14th, 1943, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Herminio Reyes and Ana Cuevas. She moved to the Bronx when she was nine years old where she grew up and lived until she was in her 20’s then moved to Waterbury, Connecticut. Eneida was a dedicated housewife, seamstress, devoted Catholic, enjoyed gardening in her family garden, loved collecting Victorian furniture and antiques. Most of all, Eneida loved spending time with her family, especially her dog, Angel. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor and treasure her memory are her daughter, Miosotis Betancourt, her siblings, Alvin Reyes, Willy Reyes, Harry Reyes, Richard Reyes, Leslie Cody, Ana Figueroa and Mildred Peña. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Eneida was predeceased by two of her siblings; Herminio Reyes and Iris Gonzalez.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betancourt will be held on Thursday August 8th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St. Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Betancourt family on Wednesday August 7th, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT.
