Enerida Aviles

Enerida "Mama" Aviles (née Ortiz), age 77, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Born on April 13, 1948, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, she lived a life rooted in love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Enerida (Nery) was the beloved wife of Carlos Aviles, Sr. and the cherished mother of Carmen Ryan, Lissette Morsy, Brenda Morales, and Tony Berrios and his wife Yanina. She was also a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren. Her family was her heart and joy-she was their matriarch and anchor, always offering strength, warmth, and guidance.
She is reunited in peace with her son Carlos "Macho" Aviles and granddaughter Amanda "Mandy" Morsy.
Known affectionately as "Mama," Enerida embodied nurturing in every sense of the word. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose selflessness touched all who knew her. Her home was a haven filled with the comforting aromas of her incredible cooking - a gift she shared generously with family and friends alike. Her meals were more than nourishment; they were expressions of love that brought people together.
Enerida had a deep love for animals and an abiding faith that guided her throughout life. Her compassion extended beyond her family to all living beings. She lived by example-quietly instilling values of kindness, resilience, and devotion through her actions rather than words.
A woman of enduring strength and grace, Enerida's presence was a source of comfort to many. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped with care and the traditions she passed down through generations.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Wake will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home 8025 W. Golf Rd. in Niles, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on November 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery 8600 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, IL.
