Enola Dickson Obituary

Born March 8, 1927 in Somerville, MA, Enola was the daughter of G. Stanley Miles and Barbara Brainard Miles.
She attended school in Massachusetts, graduating in 1950 from the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced as an RN in Massachusetts, California, and New York.
Enola (Nola) married Kenneth (Ken) Dickson in 1952. In 1956, they moved to the Utica, NY area (Whitesboro) with two young sons. They had a blessed union of 68 years until his passing in 2020.
She graduated from Utica College with a BA in Psychology and from Syracuse University with an MA in Child Development. She worked 18 years as a school psychologist with Oneida County BOCES.
Nola was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Utica. Her many volunteer services included Lauerbach Reading Program, American Lung Association, the Samaritan Counseling Center, Rescue Mission, Meals on Wheels, Hospice, Sunset Wood in Utica, the Presbyterian Home of Central NY, and the Boilermaker. In 2014, she and Ken were given the Oneida County "Senior Citizen Couple Volunteers of the Year" award. They were members of the Skenandoa Club from 1965 until 2000.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Stan and Joann Dickson (Little Falls), son and daughter-in-law Rick and MaryKate Dickson (Oneonta), and by grandchildren Jeff Dickson and fiancée Sarah Wagner (Kentucky), Andrew and Jessica Dickson (Connecticut), Katie and Jeff Bizzak (Michigan), and Bridget Dickson (Oneonta); also, a sister-in-law Katherine Dickson (Florida), and many loved nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in the future at the convenience of the family at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Utica. If you wish to make a memorial, please consider donations in Enola Dickson's name to Tabernacle or The Community at Sunset Wood in Utica.

Dear Stan and Rick,
I´m so sorry to hear of your Mom´s passing.
She and your Dad were such good friends of ours for over 60 years.We had such fun with them on so many occasions: Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sailboating, winter picnics, and progressive dinners. We were fortunate to count them as dear friends. With deepest sympathy.
