Dawn Scala Campany, 87, of Utica, NY, died on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home.
She was born on September 26, 1936, in Albany, NY, a daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Crowley. Dawn graduated from SUNY Cortland. She married George Scala in 1958 and Robert Campany in 1977. Dawn worked as an elementary school teacher at Clinton Central Schools for many years before her retirement. After her retirement, Dawn and Robert enjoyed living in Florida.
Dawn was of the Catholic faith.
She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dawn is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Todd, Sr.) Beaton and Susan (Charles, Sr.) Clas and her son, George, Jr. (Karen) Scala and step daughter Diane (Don) Bargar. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Todd, Jr. (Katie) Beaton, Mary Beth (Grant) Roser, Charles Clas, Jr., Scott Clas, Jason Clas, Connor Scala. She was blessed with five great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Susan Thorpe and several nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, George in 1975 and her husband, Robert in 2012 and her sister, Patricia Robinson.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Presbyterian Home for the care and comfort given to Dawn.
The funeral will be on Monday, April 1, at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church in North Utica, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will greet everyone following the Mass. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
