Dr. Enrico Dante Rossi Jr.

Dr. Enrico Dante Rossi, Jr., a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1929, on a small farm in Occidental, California, where he spent his early years surrounded by the redwoods, the beauty of nature and the values of hard work and family.

Enrico was a proud resident of Hayward, California for 69 years, where he built both his family and professional life. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he completed his pre-dental studies, and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1956.Enrico also served his country honorably, retiring as a Captain in the United States Army. He then did his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA where he met his wife Mary Elizabeth McCollins.

For more than three decades, Dr. Rossi maintained a respected oral surgery practice on Lake Chabot Road in Castro Valley, where he cared deeply for his patients and colleagues alike. His professional life was marked by integrity, dedication, and compassion-qualities that defined him in every aspect of his life.

Enrico was survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary; his six children: Kevin (Mary), Kathleen (Robert), Brian, John (Susan), Paul, and Michael (Ruth); and his 12 grandchildren: Claire, Matthew, Kelly (Tim), Connor, Trevor, Sean, Ryan, Julia, Anna, Ulrich, Sarka, and Maryel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrico Dante Rossi, Sr. and Angelina Corsi, as well as his sisters Amina, Marguerite, and Theresa.

Beyond his many professional accomplishments, Enrico was happiest in the great outdoors. He loved bicycling, hiking, and playing tennis, but most of all, he loved spending time with his beloved wife and children. His family was the center of his world, and his warmth, humor, and steadfast devotion will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

A private family service was held in his honor on September 23, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Dr. Enrico D. Rossi, Jr.
