Enrique “Henry” Gomez Jr. age 86 of Hobbs New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. Mr. Gomez was born July 21, 1939, in Eden Texas to Teodora Espinosa and Enrique Gomez. He married the love of his life, Micaela Jurado, in 1957.
Known for his Relentless work ethic and dedication to a job well done, Henry worked for Watson Truck & Supply for 35 years and he had owned and operated a local filling station. Henry was a man of great faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hobbs. Henry was an avid baseball fan; he loved being at the ball field coaching his children, church league men’s softball, as well the minor league team, Los Conquistadores. Henry loved his family, was a devoted husband, and took great pride in being a grandfather.
Henry is survived by his 8 children: Mario Vasquez and Richard Gomez, both of Coleman, Texas; Becky Vasquez (George) of Wolfforth, Texas; Roy Gomez, Robert Gomez (Stefanie); Rachel Guajardo (Danny), Gina Gomez, and Jessica Gomez (Mike), all of Hobbs, New Mexico. 23 grandchildren. 47 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Henry is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Micaela “Mickie” Gomez; his parents and grandparents; 2 sons Ray Gomez and Henry Joe Gomez; brother Roy Vasquez; and 2 grandsons Ruben Zamora Jr. and Anthony Gomez.
