Enzo Allegretti, formerly of Katonah, NY passed away on June 4th, 2025.
Enzo was born in New York City on December 6, 1931, and lived in Lewisboro for almost fifty years. He was a graduate of Tuckahoe High School and received his BA in Economics from Fordham University in 1953. He received master's degrees in history and education from Columbia University and a Ford Foundation Research Grant in 1956. While at Fordham he was in the ROTC and became an officer in the US Air Force based in San Antonio, Texas during the Korean War. He subsequently held the rank of Major in 9215th Air Reserve Squadron.
His passion for teaching and love of learning was evidenced by his long career in education. He started his career as an Assistant Professor at Fordham University and St. Johns University. He was appointed Dean of Administration at Westchester Community College and a Professor of Business and Finance from 1965 until his retirement in the 90s. He was also an adjunct professor of Economics at the Lubin School of Business at PACE University.
He was committed to public service his entire life and served as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Tuckahoe and a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Lewisboro from 1962 to 1983 (as chairman for 6 years). He served on the Planning Boards for the Town of Lewisboro and Westchester County. Enzo served for many years as Chairman of the Board of the American Red Cross – Westchester Chapter. He was on various citizens advisory commissions, the Westchester Parks Association and a trustee of a public library.
He and his wife Ann, traveled extensively in retirement and enjoyed many years living on Cape Cod in Brewster, Massachusetts where he continued his public service by becoming chairman of the American Red Cross – Cape and Islands Chapter and years dedicated to being a trustee and treasurer of the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
Enzo was a true patron of the arts who loved opera and Cape Rep Theatre, had a passion for gardening and he enjoyed hosting beloved family and friends at the beach (which always included a clamming adventure).
He is survived by his daughters Regina Allegretti-Davenport (Jonathan Davenport) of Lewisboro, NY and Gioia Allegretti (John Reister) of Palo Alto, CA, his grandchildren Allegra, William and El. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Antoinette in 2024.
