A page turned, a chapter completed, a battle fought, a victory won, and a life’s book closed.
We bow in humble submission to the will of God as this loving family has charged our staff to make known to all that their beloved: Mr. Eric Anthony Bridges of Albany, Georgia answered the master's call and exchanged time for eternity on Monday, June 19, 2023.
His Life's Journey
Mr. Eric Anthony Bridges was born on February 18, 1963, to the late Otis Charles (OC) Bridges and Josephine Graham Bridges in Miami, Florida.
Knowing that education is key to a strong foundation, Eric’s parents made sure he received a proper education. Eric was educated in the public school system of Dade County, Florida, where he played football and graduated as a member of North Miami Senior High School’s Class of 1981. While in Miami, Eric was employed at both Flowers and Merita Bread companies as a supervisor.
In 1986, Eric relocated to Parrott, Georgia, and was employed by Yale Rubber Company. In 2009, Eric moved to Albany, Georgia, where he was employed by Mediacom and the Dougherty County Waste Department, where he found a passion for semi trucking. He was employed with Warner and Knight trucking companies until he began experiencing health complications.
As one travels through this journey of life, it is rewarding to find that special someone with whom the most precious moments can be shared. In October 2014, Eric and his wife, Erica, cemented their official walk down the path of love and happiness, and were able to share nine beautiful years together.
“FAMILY” was one of the very few things Eric truly cared about, and to most he was considered the glue of the family. He was the connecting piece that extended for miles and hours apart. He and his wife offered their home to any family member, and hosted the family Thanksgiving dinner where they could all come to gather and eat. Third to his wife and family, cooking food was his next love. He frequently used Facebook to show off his home-cooked meals to the world.
On June 19, 2023, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Eric Bridges accepted that his assignment as a husband, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend was complete. He made the transition to join his parents, his maternal grandparents, Joe Graham and Myra Hall Graham Grier, and his paternal grandparents, John Sammie Bridges and Leona Jackson Bridges, in their heavenly home.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Erica Chaney, of Albany, Georgia; daughter, Shameka Bridges of Miami, Florida; stepchildren, Shorofsky (Rita) Horton, Chiquita Chaney, Altolvise Chaney, and Cedrique Chaney; aunts and uncles, Janie Mae Hall, Mary Ellison, Janie D. Pittman, Earl Lee Johnson, and Hubert (Wanda) Grier; sisters-in-law, Renee (Curtis) Johnson and Bridgette Chaney; brothers-in-law, Curtis Johnson, Leonard Chaney, George Chaney, and Dewayne (Kristin) Chaney; 14 grandchildren (Zale and Tra’Rell) and one great-grandchild; and a host of devoted first cousins, additional family, and friends who loved him dearly.
