Eric James Clapton

Canandaigua – Eric James Clapton, age 42, passed away unexpectedly at home, on Monday, March 2, 2026. He is survived by his wife of nine years, Heather Clapton; three sons, Kenneth Stellwagen (fiancé, Diane Zaborowski), Skylar Stellwagen and Haiden Nolan; mother, Patricia Joseph; father, Brien (Susie) Clapton; sister, Ashley Clapton; mother-in-law, Robin Koester; father-in-law, Michael (Karen) Archer; several nieces and nephews; extended family members; and his furry friends, Sissy, Bean and Nova. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Mark Joseph in 2024.

Eric was born in Newark, NY. He lived in various parts of the finger lakes, but most recently in Canandaigua. Eric owned and operated Clapton's Custom Construction. He and his wife enjoyed snowmobiling at the Tug Hill Plateau. Eric loved customizing his cars, riding street bikes, anything fast and stock car racing at the track in Canandaigua. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, March 7, from 6pm-10pm, at On the Rocks Bar and Grill, 3853 Rte's 5 & 20, Canandaigua.
