Eric Lynn Covington, 57, a man who always knew how to work hard and play (a little too) hard, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2025, in Ammon, Idaho, likely still convinced he had one more project to finish. He was taken far too soon by a sudden illness that left those who knew him in shock, and his loss leaves a hole in the hearts of many.

Born on May 29, 1968, in Oregon, Eric spent his childhood in St. Anthony, Idaho, and later made his home in West Valley City, Utah. Eric also lived in Las Vegas for a time before finally settling in Ammon, Idaho, where he spent the last several years of his life.

Eric was a familiar face as a professional truck driver for many years where his work ethic was legendary, sometimes even interfering with his ability to leave on time. Whether driving the open road or tackling hands-on projects as a painter and handy man, Eric was always dedicated to his work. But he wasn’t just about hard work—Eric also knew how to enjoy life. He had an infectious sense of humor and a charm that could light up any room. A true “people person,” Eric was known for his wit, his laughter, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He truly believed in working hard and enjoying life, often sharing stories and jokes that brightened the day of those around him.

He had a workshop full of tools that saw plenty of action and a host of loyal friends who will miss his infectious laughter, fun spirit, and the countless stories he shared. Whether he was fixing something for a friend, driving his truck across the country, or just hanging out with his dog, Monster, Eric made his presence felt in everything he did.

Eric is first survived by his best friend and life-long companion, Irene Lister, who never left his side and was a true comfort to him in his final days. He is also survived by his sisters, Whitney Sutton and Leigh Cascioli; his brother, Jonathan Covington; and his two loving stepmothers, Mary Covington and Valeta Covington. His memory live on through his numerous nieces, nephews, and a very large group of loyal and loving friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, John Covington, and his brother, Brent Covington. He will be welcomed on the other side with open arms by both his father and his brother, where they will undoubtedly continue their adventures together.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Rd., Ammon, Idaho. A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. We will honor Eric’s request to keep the stories flowing and the mood light. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable attire, bright colors, and be prepared to share a favorite memory of Eric.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with funeral costs. These donations will help fulfill Eric’s last wishes for a viewing and a simple gathering where family and friends can come together to share stories and celebrate his life.

Eric will be missed more than words can express.
