Eric John Devlin

Mr. Eric J. Devlin, age 37 of Dracut formerly of Saugus, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 24, at his home.
Born in Malden, raised and lived in Saugus until moving to Dracut two years ago, Eric was the loving son of Frank and Ann (Salamone) Devlin of Dracut.
He was a graduate of Saugus High School and UMass Lowell. Eric worked as the Conservation Agent for the City of Melrose and as an AutoCAD operator for MEA Engineering, Waltham. He was an active member of SAVE, Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment. Eric was a fierce and devoted defender of the environment, an advocate for the preservation of open space, and a protector of all living things. Eric was strongly committed to doing and saying what he believed was right, both in his personal and professional life. He always found a way to have a positive impact on his surroundings and improved any community he was part of, from dredging invasive plant species from local lakes, planting trees, maintaining walking and hiking trails, to educating others about the positive impact they can have by becoming more environmentally conscious. Eric had a fondness for all animals and will be sorely missed by the family dog, Bailey, for whom he cared for greatly.
On a personal level, Eric enjoyed most anything outdoors, including hiking, canoeing, and most importantly, gardening. He spent many hours tending to the various fruits, vegetables and plants he cultivated in his home garden and was always eager to share tips with family and friends. Eric loved comedy and movies of all kinds, and on-line gaming with friends. He was an extremely dependable, conscientious and thoughtful person with a scientific mind that he would frequently utilize to improve the way things functioned. He will be most remembered for his kindness, intelligence, sense of humor, and his ability to drop in a movie quote or original one-liner to bring levity to any situation.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Alissa Devlin and her husband Michael Cammarata; his sister Bethaney Devlin; and his brother Michael Devlin and his wife Aimee; maternal grandmother Emily Salamone; nieces and nephews Jacob, Zachary, Salvatore, Madeline, Francesca and Alexander; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus, MA on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. Followed by a service at 7 p.m.
