Hickory - Mr. Eric Kent Eason, 35, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Eric was born on December 30, 1989 in Catawba County, NC the son of Howard Eason of Vale and Carla Morgan Sims of Claremont. Eric proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines for four years obtaining the rank of Corporal. Eric was a sensitive person. He loved adventure, music, and a good laugh with those he loved. Eric enjoyed time at the beach and being in nature. Being physically fit was always a top priority in Eric's life. Eric loved and excelled at sports especially football and rooted for the Dallas Cowboys–you know they are due. He had a contagious smile that has been and will continue to be missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl Morgan, Jerry Hughey, Joyce and Glenn Sims; great grandparents, John and Edna Ivester; a step brother-in-law, Robert Shook and an aunt Dee Boyd.
Survivors include his mother Carla Morgan Sims and husband Eric of Claremont; his father Howard Eason and wife Lisa of Vale; a son, Collin Barber of Lincolnton; grandparents, Shirley and Tom Eason of Vale; Jacqueline Wishon of Hickory; a step brother Pete Craft and wife Haley and their son; a step sister, Holly Shook and her children all of Cherryville; aunts and uncles Julie and Garon Sellers; Tony and Dawn Eason; Stephanie and Jason Green; Barry and Amy Heavner; Jody and Beth Sims; Kelly and Amy Sims; two great aunts, Eunice Black of Cherryville and Carolyn Eason of Dallas. Also surviving are numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:45PM to 2:45PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate Eric's life will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow the service at North Brook Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherryville with Military Honors provided by Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Cherryville American Legion Post 100, 215 N. Pink Street, Cherryville, NC 28021.
