Eric Albert Engblom

Eric Albert Engblom (75) passed away at his home in Bloomfield Hills during the late hours of June 12, 2024 in the loving presence of his wife of 48 years, Cheryl Lynn Engblom.
Eric was born November 21, 1948 in Detroit Michigan. He was an avid baseball fan and would often go to the store as a child with a nickel to buy a pack of baseball cards. He also collected coins and had a keen interest in cars, having owned three early model Corvettes. He was fascinated with world history and had a love for classic films. He was a phenomenal chess player with a brilliance that once earned him an invitation to join MENSA. He had an incredible (but dry) sense of humor and was fluent in sarcasm. He loved his family and friends deeply. He was the dad who always had time to help with homework and never missed a child's sporting event which carried over to watching his grandkids play.
Eric graduated from Lawrence Tech University and worked for Kresge Headquarters in Detroit, MI as a systems analyst and remained there through the transition to K-Mart Headquarters in Troy, MI, totaling nearly 30 years.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents Eric and Georgina Engblom and his sister Suzanne. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Engblom (married 10/03/1975), his sister Edith Landstrom, his sons Eric (Kara) Engblom and Keith (Kelley Engblom), his daughter Erin (Joe) Howell and his grandchildren Jacob Engblom, Nicklaus Engblom, Easton Engblom, Christian Howell, Daniel Engblom, Carter Howell and Beckett Engblom.
Eric was a devoted Christian, giving us all faith and comfort that he's now in heaven and it's only goodbye for now, until we meet again. A celebration of Eric's life will be held at a later date.
