ERIC A. ENGLEBRETSON, age 65, of Loyal, WI, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 12pm until time of service.
Eric Alan Englebretson was born on January 6, 1958 in Marshfield, WI, the son of Clayton C. and Kathleen J. (Tucker) Englebretson. He was raised and received his education in Loyal, graduating from Loyal High School in 1976. Eric attended UW-Stevens Point for one year, before returning to Loyal and working for his father at the family business, Spokeville Elevator. He then went to work for Roehl Transport in 1984, where he was able to see the entire continental US by driving for Roehl. He later began working construction, starting at Marawood Construction, and spending last 20 plus years working as a head foreman for RZ Builders in Loyal. The last 4 years of his life were spent in a loving relationship with Julie Oestreich. She and her children enriched his already extraordinary life.
Eric was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal where he served on the church council, the Clark County Male Chorus, and served 20 years on the Loyal Fire Department starting in 1994, earning fireman of the year in 2013, and volunteered for Interfaith Caregivers, Ruby's Pantry, and Habitat for Humanity. He devoted his life to serving others and paying it forward.
He had many interests, but especially loved watching the Packers, Brewers, or local high school sporting events, never missing any of his children's baseball, softball, volleyball, or basketball games. Eric also loved attending his children's music programs, as his love for music was shared with his kids. He truly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Eric will be deeply missed by his children: Ric Englebretson of La Crosse, WI, Reba Englebretson of Marshfield, Aubri Englebretson (Brett Hannon) of Moncks Corner, SC, Kale (Cassi) Englebretson of Marshfield; six grandchildren: Brekken, Sophia, Kellen, Sybil, Clayton and Lenora; loving partner: Julie Oestreich of Loyal; his siblings: Kris (Bob) Schultz of Loyal, Yvette (Jesse) Zvolena of Loyal, Tim (Kathy) Englebretson of Stratford, Connie (Tom) Heersma of Rozellville, and Pat (Carmen) Englebretson of Loyal; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul.
