Eric Edwin Erickson, 89, of Russellville, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born September 16, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the parents of V.A. and Billie Erickson. Eric grew up in Russellville and graduated from Russellville School in 1954. Throughout school Eric worked at Kibler Lumber until he joined the Navy in 1955. He served as a radio operator until 1959 on both submarines and carriers. He loved being at sea and traveling the world.

After the Navy he studied at Miami University of Ohio before he met his beloved wife Barbara. They wed on December 28, 1962. They were happily married 59 years and had 3 children. He worked many years in Adams County at his business Winchester Insurance Agency.

Eric had many interests. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fossil hunting. He enjoyed sharing stories about all of his adventures throughout his lifetime. He loved traveling and going on hunting and fishing trips throughout the United States and bear hunting up in Canada.

At home he enjoyed mowing the yard, feeding and watching the birds, feeding the fish in the pond and sitting around the fire pit. You could often find him working on a puzzle or cracking hickory nuts at the kitchen table. He was also known for making some of the best blackberry jelly and black berry wine.

Eric lived in Russellville most of his life. He was involved in many local organizations and loved to volunteer when he could. He served on the Russellville Life Squad for many years and was actively involved with the RCAPS. He enjoyed being in the Masons, Shrine, Eastern Star, Kiwanis, American Legion and as a member of the Russellville Presbyterian Church.

Before Eric's wife Barbara passed away in 2021 he took care of her for many years in his family home as her main care giver. He would never leave her side and made sure she received the best care until Alzheimer's took her away from him.

Eric is survived by his daughters Ingrid Rigdon (Tim), Kirsten Schweickart (Darin) and son Eric Austin Erickson; granddaughters Kris Erin, Kelly Dawn, Billie Jane, Emma Sue and great grandsons Liam Edwin, Jett Edwin and his first great granddaughter Mabel Jane; and sister Donna Moore.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jane; parents V.A. and Billie Jane Erickson and sister Sigrid Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11 AM at the Russellville Presbyterian Church under the direction of Meeker Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday evening at the Russellville Presbyterian Church with Masonic Services at 7:30.
