Eric Dale Green (Umpa) passed away in his home with family by his side at the age of 70 on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Eric, a lifelong El Paso resident, was born January 29, 1954, to Everett Wayne and Patricia Ann Green. Eric graduated from Burges High School in 1972, and subsequently attended UTEP to study dentistry and was member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bold and dauntless, he led a vibrant, adventurous life of racing motorcycles and ATVs and touring the Southwest with friends in a van club. With the soul of an entrepreneur and machinist training from his father Everett and grandfather Benjamin Turner, he opened his own aftermarket custom shop for van, car, lowrider, and motorcycle enthusiasts, called Street Toys. After closing Street Toys in 1991, Eric truly began his life's work – providing a second chance of mobility for those with ambulatory disabilities through Mobility Products. For nearly 30 years, Eric selflessly gave to the El Paso and Southwest Region. Mobility Products touched countless lives, accommodating El Paso's Veterans, modifying and repairing city buses for the disabled, and maintaining electric scooters in the El Paso, Las Cruses, and Alamogordo area. A man blessed with ingenuity and craftsmanship, Eric was able to adapt to all situations and necessities for his clientele.
Despite the seemingly ceaseless work, Eric also knew how to truly live. He met his wife of 40 years, Carol Larouere Green in 1982 after an ATV race at the El Paso County Coliseum. Love was quickly found, and after 2 joyous years of two-steppin' and racing, they began a fulfilled life together as husband and wife in 1982. Between 1985 and 1990, they had three wonderful children, Virginia, Carrie, and Matthew. Devoted to both family and helping those in need, Eric was able to send his children to private school at Jesus Chapel School while continuing his passion in entrepreneurship. He opened ASA Transportation to improve handicap transportation through El Paso, and Rio Furniture Manufacturing and Wild West Furniture after a close family friend lost his furniture business. Throughout the hard work, he was always present for the sporting events, family trips,
and evening math homework. He was truly an exceptional man, a devoted provider, and nurturer to his family and tireless community servant.
On January 4, 2024, Eric received a diagnosis of Urothelial Metastatic Carcinoma. By March he and Carol moved to Houston to continue treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center. After three months of intense and aggressive treatment, Eric returned to El Paso on June 30th to be with family and friends. The time between returning to El Paso and his passing was filled with an abundance of love from friends and family, celebrating his rich life and extraordinary accomplishments as a businessman, husband, and father. Eric was able to go to the races again, have Christmas in July, and make a final trip up to the family's cabin in Cloudcroft, NM. He lived each of those days to the fullest.
Eric was preceded in death by his younger brother Kirk in 1979, his mother Patricia in 1987, and his father Everett, in 2005.
Eric is survived by his wife, Carol, their 3 children, and 10 grandchildren: Virginia Green-Wells and husband Jeffrey (Animal) Wells and their 3 children, Marilyn (11), Evelyn (9), and Jeffrey Jr (7). Carrie Green-Morrow and husband Damian Morrow and their 3 children, Jameson (5), Everett (3), Reileigh (1), and another due in September. Matthew Green and his wife Verenice (Vere) and their 3 children, Nathaniel (12), Greyson (6), and Vivianne (1).
Eric is survived by his sister, Shelley Anderson and her two children, Candace Fenno and Daniel Anderson, of Kingwood, Texas.
He is also survived by his favorite girl, Mustard Green, a blind West Highland Terrier mix, and Angel, a diva Yorkie mutt.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 15th, 2024 at Restoration Fellowship, 10200 Album Ave, El Paso, TX, 79925. The service will be officiated by Gary Wilcox. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Kemarah's Chasing Rainbows, kemarahschasingrainbows.org, as the organization facilitates families, like us, in need of housing accommodations receiving treatment in Houston.
Graveside service will be at Restlawn Cemetery with family at a later date.

Indeed, Mr. Green was very dedicated to his customers living with disabilities. The last time I called him, he answered his phone while in Houston! He explained that he was receiving treatment at MD Anderson. He wanted to know the reason for my call, and after I explained the issue, I was having with my scooter lift he proceded to give me instructions. Many, many of us living with disabilities are greatly indebted to Mr. Eric Green for his talent and dedication, and for his kindness. Rest in Peace dear friend.

My husband and I first met Eric and his son over twenty years ago when the ramp on my husband's van was giving us problems that no one else could fix! Over the years he would even travel to our home, in Las Cruces, to help us with various mobility equipment problems. We quickly became friends and not just customers...That's the way he always treated people!

May our Lord Jesus Christ bless and comfort his loved ones. He will be missed by many.

I use to sell Eric a lot of parts for the vans when I worked at Dick Poe . Everytime he went in he always was smiling and cracking jokes and asked where´s the old man ( co worker ). His work for those that really needed it meant so much to many . Rest in peace brother .
