Eric Horton Obituary
Eric honorably served in the United States Army, dedicating more than 23 years of distinguished military service, including over 18 years with the 7th Special Forces Group stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Rising to the esteemed rank of Sergeant Major, he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership, including two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. Eric was medically retired due to injuries sustained during combat while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2006, part of the Global War on Terror.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tammy J. (Stewart) Horton; his children, Eric C. Horton, Jr., Zachary Horton, and Kayleigh Horton; his father, Robert L. Horton; his brother, Brian Horton and family; and many extended family members who cherished him deeply.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Karen K. Horton, as well as both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He will be laid to rest with full military honors. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the family's home cemetery in Harnett County, North Carolina.

Crandall came to RHS in our 6th grade year, to Mrs Grogan´s classroom. He was a great guy, & everyone´s friend, all the way to graduation in 1987. So sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers for the family
