Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Muskogee on Feb. 1, 2026.
Eric Wayne Jaquez, age 57, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Eric was born on January 5, 1969, in
Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Rev. Don and Mary (Tignor) Jaquez.
In 1980, Eric's family moved to Muskogee when his father became pastor of New Life Center Church, where Eric's life became deeply rooted in faith, family, and community.
Born with special needs, Eric faced life with a gentle spirit and a heart bigger than anyone could measure. He had a gift for friendship and never met a stranger. His warm smile, kind nature, and joyful presence brought light to every room he entered.
Eric attended special education classes through Muskogee Public Schools and proudly graduated from Muskogee High School. He was a participant in Special Olympics for many years. He loved being around people, and celebrating life's simple pleasures.
His faith in Jesus was the center of his life. Eric loved to sing church songs, worship with his family, and often reminded those around him just how much he loved them. He treasured time spent with his family, going out to eat, and adding to his beloved hat collection. Whether sharing a meal, singing a favorite hymn, or simply sitting and waving at passersby's in his big picture window, Eric found joy in every moment.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Don Jaquez; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Mary Jaquez of the home; his brother, Randall Jaquez and his wife, Kim "Tim"; and his favorite niece, Journey "Urnie" Jaquez of Muskogee; along with extended family and many dear friends who were blessed by knowing and loving him.
More than anything, Eric will be remembered for his pure heart, his laughter, and the unconditional love he shared so freely. He taught everyone around him what it means to live with joy, compassion, and childlike faith. Though deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is now whole, healed, and at peace in the presence of the Lord.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:14
In lieu of flowers, Eric's family request memorial contributions to Muskogee Special Olympics at www.sook.org/support/donate and the Lake Area United Way at www.lakeareaunitedway.org.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Muskogee with the family receiving friends 5PM - 7PM.
