Obituary for Eric Ljungblad
October 30, 1965 – May 16, 2025
With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of Karl Eric Ljungblad, who left us on May 16, 2025, at the age of 59.
Born in Newport Beach, California, Eric was a devoted father, loving husband, and a kind, steady presence in the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Alessandra Salgado Ljungblad, and their 11-year-old twin sons, Luke and Jake, who were the joy and pride of his life.
Eric had a deep and lifelong love for the ocean. A passionate fisherman, he carried his fishing poles in his car at all times, ready to cast a line whenever the opportunity arose. Whether on the beach or the pier, the water was his sanctuary.
He worked for many years in the field of information technology, most recently as an IT Manager at 211 San Diego, where he was respected for both his expertise and his calm, thoughtful presence. Eric had a gift for problem-solving and a heart for service, making a meaningful impact in his work and in the lives of those around him.
Eric is also survived by his beloved stepdaughters, Sabrina Santa Cruz and Melissa Santa Cruz; his father, Donald Karl Ljungblad; and his sisters, Tammy Ljungblad Wainwright and Tonja Ljungblad Coates. He is remembered fondly by his niece and nephews, Sasha Coates, Keegan Coates, and Brett Wainwright, as well as many extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Agnes Rick, who passed away in 2015.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at East County Mortuary & Cremation Services, 374 Magnolia Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020. All who knew and loved Eric are welcome to join us in honoring his life and memory.
