Eric Warren Meister passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at Capital Medical Center. He was diagnosed with cancer in early December of 2024. Eric was 64 years old.
Eric was born on April 13th, 1960, in Aberdeen, WA to Walter and Ellen Meister. A lifetime resident of Elma, Eric graduated from Elma High School in 1978. In 1979, Eric married his wife, Linda, and together they had three children. In 1980, Eric started his career at Roderick Timber in Aberdeen, WA, working in the sorting yard. He went on to open his own business as a forestry contractor, working for over 40 years in Grays Harbor and the surrounding areas. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the City of Elma for many years and also served on the City Council.
In his free time, Eric enjoyed picking blueberries at the family farm, gardening, picking chanterelles in the woods, and clam digging. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling and volunteering around the world, having spent time in Bolivia, Mozambique, and Indonesia. He loved meeting and spending time with people from other cultures. Eric was known for his tenacious work ethic, his outgoing personality, and for lending a helpful hand to those in need.
Eric is preceded in death by his father, Walter; his mother, Ellen; his stepmother, Arlene; his sisters, Nancy and Karen; and his brother Blane. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Chase (Alisa), Kyndal and Carly; his sisters, Anne and Heidi; his grandchildren, Rowan, Archer, and Riley; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dear Aunt Rosie Dianovich.
Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to the Log Pavillion in Aberdeen, WA on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM, to reminisce, honor, and celebrate the life of Eric Warren Meister.
