Rev. Eric Dwayne Ozan was born in Houston, Texas on February 22, 1975 to the late Rev. Michael Wayne Ozan and Cathy Richmond Ozan. He is the oldest of his siblings.
Eric's educational journey began in the Galena Park Independent School District. He went on to the Houston Independent School District and attended Alcott Elementary School, Albert Thomas Middle School, and graduated from Ross Shaw Sterling High School – Class of 1993. He was a part of the brass section in the Raider Band as a saxophone player and became drum major in 1992. He attended THE Prairie View A&M University for three years studying Psychology. In his words, "Prairie View Produces Proud Productive People". He was a part of the Prairie View A&M University Choir and toured many cities with them. He sang background with gospel artists like Dr. Theola Booker, Shawn McLemore, and Andre Kelly and the Paradise Baptist Church Mass Choir.
In 1977, Eric's family united with Greater St. Matthew Church under the leadership of Rev. Gusta Booker, Jr. who also baptized him. He sang with the Young Ambassadors Choir, Junior Choir, Angelic Voices, Celestial Voices, Men's Choir, and was a part of The Gents. Eric traveled with the Greater St. Matthew Christian Steppers Drill Team attending many National Conventions. On January 22, 1994, he preached his first sermon titled "Accept What God Allows."
Eric was employed at Locke Liddell & Sapp LLP for many years. He later became employed by Texas Home Health as an Executive Assistant until his health declined.
Eric met the love of his life in August 1997, Christi McDonald. He went on to marry his best friend and the only other person who shared the same love for football as he did. To this union, the light of his life was born, Miss Eriana Che'Amani Ozan.
Eric was a sharp dresser since the tender age of two years old. His outfits always matched from head to toe including ties, shoes, etc. He also had a matching hat with each suit or outfit.
Eric and his family were avid sports fans. His favorite NFL team was the Tennessee Titans, while his wife is a Texans fan, and daughter a Packers fan-a house truly divided. They loved watching and attending all the NFL games and college games (PVU). He also loved golf and bowling. He was a lover of all genres of music.
Eric is preceded in death by his father, Michael Wayne Ozan; grandparents: Robert and Geraldine Ozan, Shirley Webster; Mother-in-law, Betty J. McDonald; three great uncles, five great aunts, cousins: William Webster, Tieler and Taeler Webster.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Loving and devoted wife of nearly 20 years, Christi McDonald Ozan; daughter, Eriana C. Ozan; mother, Cathy Ozan; four sisters: Erika Ozan, Shirita Ozan, Chiniqua Ozan, Brittany Thomas (Rufus), Mikaila [=Martin, Angel Ozan; brother, Keithlan Martin; brother-in-law, Jarrett McDonald; sister-in-law, Jawn McCleskey; four nephews: Mitchell Craney II, Isaiah Thomas, Legend Thomas, King Ozan; three nieces: Zuri Johnson, Zaniyah Thomas, Camryn Fobbs; aunts: Donna Bolden, Doris Chachere, Nadine Littles (Ray); uncles: Darryl Webster (Karole), Jim Ozan, Stephen Ozan (Frances); father-in-law, Larry McDonald; Cousins (The Elite Eight): Dwon Bolden Jr. (Jana), DeAndrea LaVergne (Nicholas), Darwin Bolden Sr. (Jannette), Deietra Bolden, Anthony Oakley, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
