Eric James Stanway, age 71, passed away at his home in Florida on June 28th, 2024 following his fight with Alzheimer's. He is now able to talk, run, and dance once again through the heavens. Born on May 16th, 1953, in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, he grew up in a loving home, the middle son to his now deceased parents Kathleen and Carl Stanway. Eric's loving kindness and compassionate nature made him easy to talk to, get along with, and he was a friend to all.
Eric had a zeal for life that was expressed through his love of sports. Growing up as an avid basketball player and on a team, he also took to all other sports naturally. Other sports Eric enjoyed playing and watching included golf, bowling, baseball, and football. The zeal he had as an athlete, he also enjoyed sharing with others including his family. One of Eric's greatest attributes was his patience through the hard times, and whether winning or losing, be it in the challenges of life or on the court, his patience never wavered.
Eric was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Stanway, his two daughters Kathleen and Carolynn Stanway, and his two grandchildren Alexander Cruz and Kaitlyn Stanway. Our hearts mourn the loss of Eric; however, we find comfort in knowing he no longer suffers from Alzheimer's.
In honor of Eric, his remains will be spread near Allegheny, PA, his birthplace by his surviving family in October of 2024.
