Eric Wayne Wallis, Sr., the ninth of ten children, was born to Stafford Wallis, Sr. and Dorothy Wallis Lewis. He was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, best friend, and soulmate, Zanetta Jones Wallis.
Eric was a devoted servant of God who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Bates Memorial Baptist Church, where he found strength, fellowship, and spiritual fulfillment.
Eric honorably served his country in the United States Army for twelve years, completing tours of duty in Honduras and Germany. During his military career, he distinguished himself as a supervisor and trainer while serving as an Electronic Technician responsible for maintaining high-value equipment. His dedication and professionalism earned him a Top-Secret security clearance and multiple commendations for exemplary service. He was also a proud and active member of the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Kentucky Motorcycle Club.
Following his military service, Eric continued to apply his technical expertise in the civilian workforce. His professional career included positions as a Satellite Technician/Installer, Industrial Tradesman, Exhibit Specialist, Chemical Operator, and Refrigeration Technician.
To his nieces and nephews, Eric was affectionately known as the “coolest” uncle. He will be deeply missed for his love, guidance, and joyful spirit. To many, he was more than a friend—he was a brother. Eric was a smooth dancer and a passionate lover of music and the arts. He possessed great wisdom, knowledge, and discernment, which were evident in his thoughtful conversations and lively debates. Dependable and compassionate, his warmth and acceptance touched all who knew him.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Eric Wayne Wallis, Jr. (Maureen) and Gerald Marcus Wallis (Janetta); his beloved grandchildren, Adrian Maurice Wallis, Aubrey Erica Wallis, Gianna Mahliya Wallis, Jairus King Wallis, and Ginessa Monea Wallis; his bonus father, Rev. Harvey Lewis (Dionne); his siblings, Vera Wallis Blakes, Leon Wallis, Gayle Wallis Hicks, Patrick Wallis, and Steven Walker-Wallis (Tiffany); his in laws, Debra Ann Turner, and Jackson Jones III (Dorina).
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Stafford Wallis, Sr. and Dorothy Wallis Lewis, and his siblings, Vernette Wallis Andry, Gloria Wallis Emilien, Roy Wallis, Glynn Wallis, and Stafford Wallis, Jr.
A memorial service for Eric will be on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Bates Memorial Baptist Church, 620 Lampton Street, Louisville, KY, 40203, beginning at 11am.
