Eric Dale Warren, 53, entered into his eternal rest on September 18, 2025, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was born on September 4, 1972, to Garland and Kathy Warren of Springtown, Texas. His love for the outdoors, hunting, and fishing developed early as he spent the summers exploring and conquering the ponds, fields, and wildlife surrounding his childhood home in Springtown. He spent many hours in the field and on the water pursuing this passion and especially enjoyed fishing with his father, Garland.
During his high school years, he worked part-time at JCPenney, where his mother, Kathy, was a manager. While he appreciated the opportunity to earn some money, he began to understand his ultimate calling when he started serving as a dispatcher for the Parker County Sheriff’s Office in 1993. Within a couple of years, he was serving as a reserve officer and was then quickly promoted to deputy in 1995. He served the County faithfully for five years before joining the Weatherford Police Department in November 2000.
He loved his new role with the City, but truly began living out his calling while serving with the Motorcycle Unit with WPD. His love for people and his commitment to keeping drivers safe combined to create a deep sense of fulfillment with his work.
From there, Eric discovered a new way to express a passion he had always possessed, training and mentoring the next generation of police officers. He poured his heart into every lesson and every student, always celebrating when they graduated into service. This work eventually extended to Weatherford College, where he served as the Assistant Training Coordinator and helped shape the lives of countless officers throughout Parker County and beyond. Eric served with passion, dedication, wisdom, and humor, touching many lives throughout the County.
While getting his career underway, he met and married the love of his life, Sonya Waller, and promptly adopted her son Corey as his own. They established their home and soon welcomed a daughter, Samantha. Those who know the family well recall a season of separation for Eric and Sonya. However, in September of this year, Eric and Sonya renewed their vows to one another and were remarried, putting their home and family back together for good.
Eric is survived by his wife, Sonya; son, Corey (CJ); daughter, Samantha; and #1 granddaughter, Rosie of Springtown; his brother, Keith and his wife, Carol Ann, and daughters, Kennedy and Keller of Weatherford; his uncle, Gayland and aunt, Cathy Warren of Springtown; his aunt, Wanda Harrington of Springtown; cousins, Jaclyn (Greg) Christian of Azle, Kevin (Anna) Warren of Fort Worth, Cindy (Cody) Brazil of Springtown, Theresa (Jason) Redden of Fulshear, Texas, and Kelly (William) Norman of Springtown.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be directed to the Weatherford Fire Fighters’ Association benefit scheduled for October 29 at Shep’s Place. Proceeds from the event will benefit Eric’s wife and children.
The visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 27, 2025, both at North Side Baptist Church, located at 910 North Main Street, Weatherford, Texas.
