Erich John Jacob Gaiser, age 89, of Westerville passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024. Erich was born on February 9, 1935 in Gahanna, Ohio to Emil and Dora Gaiser. He graduated from Westerville High School in 1953, graduated from The Ohio State University in 1958 and then served in the US Army. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley (Petty), his parents, and his brother Walter. He is survived by daughters Kim (Jim Fabian), Lori (Mark McNabb), and Heidi (Jeff Fisher), grandchildren, Zac, Lindsay, Derek, and Matt as well as great-grandchild, Josie Rae. Erich retired from Blackhawk Golf Club in 1989 where he was the Golf Pro from the time it was built in 1964. In 1970, he, his brother Walt, and cousin Paul, built Westerville Golf Center, where he continued to go almost every day until near the time of his death. He was proud of Westerville Golf Center and enjoyed seeing the sport of golf grow in popularity over the years. He was a very hardworking, caring and giving person. He was also a beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and the many, many people he met over the years in his golf profession. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2024, 3pm to 5pm at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville with the funeral service following at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made at www.firstteecentralohio.org/donate/ which will support First Tee programs here in Central Ohio. FTCO has a goal of impacting the next generation by teaching life skills and character building through the game of golf. Please list Erich Gaiser "In Memory of box" under additional information.
