Erich von Ahn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bunker Family Funerals & Cremation - University Chapel on Mar. 31, 2026.
Erich Peter von Ahn, born July 18, 1942, in Geversdorf, Germany, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at his home in San Tan Valley, Arizona, surrounded by his loving family.

Erich lived a life defined by courage, curiosity, and devotion. As a young man, he left his home in Germany to build a new life in the United States. He proudly served two years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Morocco, where he embraced adventure and developed the discipline and resilience that would shape the rest of his life.

After his service, Erich dedicated more than 50 years to his craft as an auto mechanic. He approached every engine with patience and precision, and every customer with honesty and kindness. His hands were rarely still, and his work ethic was unmatched - traits that earned him deep respect from everyone who knew him.

Outside the shop, Erich found joy in the simple, steady rhythms of life. He loved deep sea fishing, cooking meals that brought people together, watching wrestling, keeping a close eye on the Weather Channel, and reading the daily newspaper from front to back. These routines reflected who he was: steady, curious, humorous, and wonderfully grounded.

Erich leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Anita, who was his partner in every chapter of life. He is survived by their children- Rick (Tee), Brenda and Kurt (Oana) as well as several grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by one sister, Edna Hinsch (Hartmut) in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Rebeka von Ahn; his sisters, Kathe and Margaret; and his brothers, John and Peter.

Erich will be remembered for his quiet strength, his hard-working spirit, and the deep love he carried for his family. His legacy lives on in the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the countless moments of laughter, comfort, and connection he created throughout his life.

Erich will be deeply missed and forever loved.
