Erik Jensen Obituary

Erik Kevin Jensen

1977-2024

Cottonwood Heights, Utah-Our beloved brother, husband, son, father, and friend to all, Erik Kevin Jensen, made his final pedal stroke on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the age of 47. His passing was confirmed by the Park City Police Department early in the morning on June 16, 2024. Erik's life was unexpectedly cut short due to an unrelated medical episode that occurred while he was riding his mountain bike in Park City, Utah.

Measured in years, Erik's life may have been short, but when measured in the ways that count – love, passion, kindness, and humor, to name a few – his life was abundant and full. All who crossed paths with Erik will remember feeling understood and loved.

Erik was the first child born to Kevin D. Jensen and Launa Lee Stowell. They welcomed him into their home on April 7, 1977, and he weighed 7lbs 7oz. They later added two sons to their family, Alan Michael and David Paul. Kevin and Launie raised their boys in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their faith has sustained them during difficult times. Erik's brothers meant the world to him. The bond shared between them was unmeasurable. They shared many of the same interests and hobbies, and the loss of Erik has left a huge hole that will forever be felt.

Following in his father's footsteps, Erik obtained his Realtor license. He was very successful and obtained many awards throughout his career, including the Chairman's Circle Award. He enjoyed serving his many clients and friends and especially enjoyed the camaraderie he felt with the other agents in the Berkshire Hathaway office, where he spent much of his time.

Erik delighted in his two children, Charlotte (17) and Nick (15), born to him and his first wife, Kari Scott. As much as Erik enjoyed mentoring friends and riding his mountain bike, nothing brought him more happiness than his children. Being their father was his greatest joy and accomplishment, and he was endlessly proud of them.

Erik was fortunate to find the love of his life, Kate (Thornton) Jensen, and they were married on November 22, 2020. Kate and Erik truly completed each other and lived each day together to the fullest. Their time together was too brief, but their love story will endure. They were utterly devoted to each other. In marrying Kate, Erik was also blessed to mentor her two children, Jude (12) and Scarlett (10), with whom he felt a special connection.

In May 2024, Erik received his 28-year sobriety chip from Alcoholics Anonymous. Through AA and other means, he mentored many others through their struggles with addiction. There are many people who credit Erik as playing a part in their recovery. Notwithstanding his own impressive accolades, Erik was humble and never placed his own value above others. He always credited his continuous recovery to God, family, and his friends.

Erik is preceded in death by his mother, Launie; his paternal grandparents, Alan and Darlene Jensen; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Lorelie Stowell; his aunt Tammy Jensen; his aunt Leslie Jensen; and his step-sister, Wendi Quinn. Erik is survived by his beloved wife, Kate, along with her children, Jude and Scarlett Lasson; his adored children, Charlotte and Nick Jensen; his father, Kevin (Karla) Jensen; his brothers, Mike (Meisha) Jensen and David (Sarah) Jensen; and 5 step siblings, Candice Quinn (Mike), James Quinn, Devin (Kyona) Quinn, Alexa (Parry) Arbon and Remington Taylor. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Rick and Sue Thornton; as well as his siblings-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and other extended family members who miss him tremendously.

Viewings will be held Sunday, June 23, from 6-8 pm and Monday, June 24 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Cottonwood Heights Utah Wasatch Stake center located at 8170 South Shorthills Drive (3425 East), Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Services will be held Monday June 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at the same address. Interment will be at the Memorial Holladay Cemetery.

In addition to the funeral services, an honorary bike ride and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 29. The bike ride will begin at 4 pm at the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, 2749 East Sunnyside Ave., Salt Lake City, UT. The celebration of life will follow at 6 pm at Rotary Glen Park, 2903 East Kennedy Drive, Salt Lake City, UT.

Family and friends of Erik offer their deep gratitude to the brave men and women of the Park City Police Department and the Park City Fire District for their outstanding professionalism and compassion towards Erik and his loved ones. The family thanks the funeral directors, Memorial Holladay - Cottonwood Mortuary for their services. Erik's memory and influence will live on in the hearts of the countless people he impacted.

I am so sorry to see this right now. I can´t believe I missed Eric´s funeral. As my heart is broken and I will miss my friend. Erik as a young boy used to pop in my Office and pick up flyers to deliver all around town for me. He had success in his blood. His energy, smile and friendship always was warm and will be everlasting. People with a heart and love for life like Eric don´t pass thru my life often and I love him and will miss him. May Heavenly Father continue to bless all of you and may his love and peace live on thru us all!

I have only known Erik for just over 3 short years, and have been lucky enough to connect with him multiple times a month. Every time he would express his gratitude for his wife, kids and life in general, even when he was down he was always looking for the positive in the journey and trusting in his higher power. I know he was so in love with his wife, and so proud of the family that he was a part of. Erik has been such a strong pilar in my own recovery, he has always treated me with kindness, listen with a open ear, but more importantly, given his time, so that healing could take place. Erik has helped lift hundreds of people's lives up in countless different ways. I am a better person to have had Erik as a friend. He will be missed.

Wow, what a shock. Erik looked like the epitome of health. I alway's admired his passion in his work, for his Family and for Mountain Biking. Erik found our first home for us. We were client's but 11 year's later he still treated us like a caring friend. When my son was baptized 10 year's ago he came to support him. Erik has a beautiful light and spirit about him. I can't believe he's gone. I'm sending my Love and Faith to be with all that mourn that all will be comforted.

Erik helped us sell our previous home and purchase our current home 14 years ago. He continued to keep in touch a few times a year. We always enjoyed catching up with him. Peace be with his entire family.

I was so lucky to work for a few years on Erik´s Berkshire team alongside my mom, Ali. I´ll always remember Erik for his humor - there wasn´t a day he didn´t make me laugh, and his compassion towards me as a new agent and a new mother. He pushed me to do things out of my comfort zone, to believe in myself, and continually showed me kindness and generosity. To his family - I can´t imagine the loss and send my deepest sympathies. Rest in peace, Erik.

May he rest in peace. We will have a Mass offered for his soul. I foundly remember Erik's helpful patience in finding us our home. It took 3 months of searching but he was determined to find the right home. 15 years later we are still grateful. Thank you, Erik. Rest in peace with Our Lord.

Erik Jensen was and is an amazing soul to so many people. He has the gift a making everyone feel so important and valued. There are not that many people in my life whom I have come to love and respect more than he. He is truly one of the giants who has ever walked this planet. We started in real estate the very same day at our Prudential office 21 years ago. He is a lighthearted heavy-gold kind of person. I'll miss you greatly but never forget you, my awesome friend.

Erik was a dear friend of my son Oli Smith. They met in grade school and stayed connected for the years that followed. Oli owed his sobriety to Erik, Erik picked him up for years to attend their AA meetings. Oli unfortunately passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago but our family is forever indebted to Erik´s love and friendship. His influence changed a difficult path for Oli and our family. We send our deepest sympathies to all of you and to all us friends that loved him. Sending my deepest regrets, Jane Mullen.

I met Erik almost 15 years ago and was instantly impressed by his outgoing personality. He was the type of friend who always knew what to say when you weren´t feeling your best. His compassion, humility, warmth, and love of people will never be forgotten. We all share our fond memories and may they forever be a blessing.

I have considered Erik a dear friend since our days at Prudential R. E.. over the years our conversations have been serious and uplifting. I will miss his visits on his way past my desk. They reminded me a bit of the fence talks on the T.V. sitcom "Tool Time". On a Professional level he was a great Mike and Tom Ferry coach and new ND experienced agents will miss his hard to replace, early morning training classes.
Eternal rest grant unto him, Oh Lord!

So sorry for all those who are mourning the loss of Erik. He was such a great man. I have been blessed to get to know him over the years through my husband, Steve. Erik always took time to ask how I was doing and seemed genuinely interested in what was happening in my life. I am grateful for his example and am a better person because I knew him.
