Erma Jean Herndon Davis, age 70, of Baxley passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at her residence under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice.
Mrs. Davis was born December 15, 1954 in Appling County to the late Joseph Earnest Herndon, Jr. and the late Sara Nell Bass Herndon. She was a faithful pastor’s wife and member of Unity Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Appling County High School Class of 1972. She was a retired paraprofessional with Appling County Board of Education and a member of the Appling County Retired Educators. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her son, Allen Davis, daughter, Allison Davis, sisters, Sue (Mickey) Davis and Jeanette Herndon, and brothers-in-law, Alvin Lewis and Jim Davis.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Rev. Charles A. Davis of Baxley; sons, Jamie (Brandi) Davis of Cochran and Stacy (Brooke) Davis of Uvalda; sisters, Martha Lewis of Warner Robins and Shirley (Mike) Hallman; brother, Jay (Linda) Herndon of Hazlehurst and Danny (Celes) Herndon of Ellabell; grandsons, Brendan Davis and Liam Davis both of Cochran; and father-in-law, Roscoe Davis of Baxley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Justin McLellan and Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Hunter, Dane Hunter, Galen Davis, Joseph Herndon, Adam Herndon, Keith Lewis, and Joseph Frazier.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
