Erma Houser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yancey Funeral Services - Burnsville on Jan. 20, 2026.
Erma Jean Houser, age 85, of Green Mountain, went home to be with her Lord; surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 19th, 2026. She was a daughter to the late John and Carrie Horton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Kenneth Houser; a brother, D.C. Horton and a sister, Loisteen Phillips.

Erma attended Erwin First Pentecostal Holiness Church for a number of years and loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith and willingness to serve Him was known to all who knew her; making her a prayer warrior to many. Her life was a living testimony to everyone she met. Erma cherished moments spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was always the steadfast foundation in her family who everyone looked to for prayer and comfort. In her free time Erma loved to travel. Taking trips with her sisters was something she enjoyed immensely.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Cindy Warren (Tony) of Simpsonville, SC and Crystal Melton (Chris) of Valdese, NC; sons: Tom Houser (Tammy) of Glen Air and Tim Houser (Dawn) of Burnsville; grandchildren: Nate and Drew Warren (Courtney), Carrie Cooper (Christopher), Ben and Daniel Melton, Tyler, Gracie and Aiden Houser and Callie Shepherd (Dylan); great-grandchildren: Wyatt Cooper, Riggs Warren, Paisley Lowery and Colson Shepherd; siblings: Idaleen Peterson, Nadine Bennett, Geraldine Honeycutt, Kathy Greene, Betty Horton and Bradley Horton; a special friend, Wayne Lewis; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 30th, 2026 at Erwin First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Earl Ragland. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the church. A graveside service will follow in the Horton Cemetery off of Flat Branch Road.

Yancey Funeral Services is serving the Houser family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Erwin First Pentecostal Holiness Church at 1600 North Main Ave., Erwin, TN 37650.
