Ernest E. Buder Jr., 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at Concord Hospital. He was born in Nashua, the eldest of 4 boys, on December 29th, 1942, to the late Ernest and Grace (Widener) Buder. He had a great affinity for his hometown. Besides his years in the service, Ernie spent his entire life in Nashua.
Growing up Ernest received his education in the Nashua School District, graduating with Nashua High class of 1960, with his favorite subject being History. Soon after graduation, Ernie enlisted in the Army in February of 1964. Basic training was completed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. He served as a clerk during his 18 months in Okinawa, at the Hinoko Army base. Later in his service, Ernie travelled to Vietnam. After his time in service, on the recommendation of an uncle, Ernie became a postman. Sometimes he delivered on foot, sometimes in a truck. He retired from the Nashua Post Office after 30 years.
He always enjoyed reading throughout his life. Ernie enjoyed all types of books. From historical, to spy novels, old west to biographies. Ernie came to the New Hampshire Veterans Home. Some of his favorite activities there were Bingo, Pokeno, musical events, cookouts, trivia, and Friday night documentaries. Ernie was also the cool uncle, often taking nieces and nephews out for ice cream and pizza. He was one of the best uncles you could ask for and is part of so many amazing childhood memories for his three nieces. Above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family the most.
Ernest is survived by his two brothers, Donald Buder of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Tommy Buder and his wife Rosemary of Merrimack, his three nieces Prudence, Stacy, and Heidi, as well as many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Roger Buder.
Family and friends are invited to Ernest's visitation on FRIDAY, November 17th from 4 until 7 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His funeral mass will take place on SATURDAY, November 18th at 10 AM at St. Kathryn's Parish, 4 Dracut Road, Hudson. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH.
