Ernest "Bud" Cook of Jerome, Michigan passed away on October 26, 2022 at Drew's Country Living. He was born on December 27, 1933 in Jerome, Michigan to William and Marceal (Clark) Cook.
Ernest is survived by four children, Alan (Susan) Cook, David (Karen Trudgen) Cook, Stanley (Tammy) Cook, and Jennifer (Tim) Tompkins; one daughter-in-law, Christy Cook; nineteen grandchildren, Casey, Trisha, David, Daniel, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Carrie, Adam, Joseph, Caleb, Becka, Abi, Joshua, Jessica, Nicholas, Jamie, Kelly, Rachel, and Caige; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; his wife; Claribel who was his "high school sweetheart"; one son, Steven Cook; one brother, Richard "Dick" Cook; and two sisters, Mabel Rutan and Marlene Hoffman.
Bud loved playing baseball and fastpitch softball throughout his life. He attended every Hillsdale County Fair and would spend most of the week there. Bud worked for Hillsdale County Road Commission for 44 ½ years. He started as a laborer and retired as a foreman. He enjoyed watching horse pulls and also sitting at the table of knowledge at local restaurants. He was a member of Countryside Bible Church, very personable, and he never met a stranger.
A funeral service to honor his life will be held at the Countryside Bible Church on Monday, October 31, 2022 beginning at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, October 30th at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
