Ernest Ray Cyrus

Ernest Ray Cyrus, age 88, passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2025, at his home. Ernest was born on September 1, 1937, in Barboursville, West Virginia to the late Carl and Ruth (Stafford) Cyrus. As well as his parents, Ernest is also preceded in death by his son, Mark Cyrus; and seven sisters. He is survived by the love of his life Diann (Thornton) Cyrus of 65 years; daughter, Sherry (Jason) Burroughs; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren. Ernest was a 25 year career Veteran with the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a highly decorated Airman. While serving his country he was awarded The Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters; Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters; and Air Force Commendation Medal to name a few. Ernest had a great love for all animals, and he enjoyed his time with his family, neighbors and his friends. Visitation for Ernest will be held Monday December 15, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home 587 Main St. Groveport, Oh 43125.
