Ernest Ely Obituary
Ernest Michael Ely (Mike), born August 20, 1945, in Boca Raton, FL, passed away on September 30, 2024. Mike was a proud Vietnam Air Force veteran who loved all things flying and space-related, spending over 30 years working in the space industry. In his later years, he enjoyed "glamping," cruising, and checking off his bucket list of things to do, namely visiting London England and watching great tennis at the Championships of Wimbledon in England, hopping a train to Scotland, taking a "foodie" tour of Florence Italy, seeing the sights of Rome, Vatican City, and Pompei, all while sporting his trademark Hawaiian print shirts.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kerry Roddenberry Ely, son Robert (Robbie) Ely, and daughter Katie (Megan) Gantner, He also leaves behind his siblings, Robert, Darlene (Ron) Ochsnecht, and Barbara (John) Lewis, step-siblings Sue (John) Loveless, and Mark, Jeff, and Tim Ely.
Mike has expressed no formal service but instead wishes for a military funeral honor with friends and family. Please join us as we celebrate his life at 10am Friday, October 11th at 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250
