Ernest George Gedling, Jr., a beloved native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away at the age of 76 on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Ernie was a dedicated Navy veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. His commitment to his fellow service members and his country was a testament to his strong sense of duty and patriotism.
Ernie cherished the simple pleasures of life and found solace in spending time in the serene countryside, affectionately referred to as "the farm." He had a deep love for the great outdoors, particularly when it came to fishing. His passion for these activities was contagious, and he enjoyed sharing these experiences with family and friends.
Above all, Ernie's heart belonged to his family. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring "Pop" to his grandchildren. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debbie Gedling; childen, Gary McCowan, Steven Gedling (Christine), Bubby Gedling (Misty); grandchildren, Brittney, Michael, Alex, Gage, Lara, and Mayson; great grandson, Sage; sister, Nancy Johnson; and beloved dog, Gracie.
A memorial visitation will be held 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway. Military honors will be rendered 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
