ERNEST ALFRED HAMMAR, ll, 79 CANFIELD-Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20th at Lane Family Funeral Homes, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel for Ernest Alfred Hammar, ll, 79, who died December 13th at his residence. Ernest was born November 14, 1935 in Youngstown, a son of the late Ernest A. and Rose Stassin Hammar, Ernest was a 1952 graduate of South High School and served in the United States Army. He received Bachelor Degrees from both Youngstown State and Case Western Reserve Universities. Ernie owned and operated Hammar and Sons Furniture and Carpet Co., and later was employed by Fierst Distributing Co. of Pittsburgh. He had also worked in sales for the Senior News in Youngstown, where he retired in 2013. Ernie was a former member of First Covenant Church in Boardman. He enjoyed golfing and especially spending time with his grandchildren. His wife, the former Sally Ann Eagleton, whom he married August 18, 1962, died December 25, 2008. He leaves his children, Danielle Saker of Youngstown; Denise McCown of Boardman; Ernest "T.J." (Tammy) Hammar, lll of Boardman; Arick (Marnie) Hammar of Milford, OH and Dr. Matthew Hammar of Columbus and ten grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Ernest was preceded in death by his brother, William Hammar. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service.
