Ernest Henry Hericks peacefully passed away on the morning of March 28th in Rexburg, Idaho. Ernie was born in Saint Mary's Ridge Wisconsin, on October 10th, 1940. He joined the United States Army in 1958 and served in Okinawa Japan. He was honourably discharged in 1961 and moved to California shortly after. He went on to work for Greyhound Bus Lines. He enjoyed driving all over the southwestern United States. He took pride in his driving skills. After working for Greyhound for several years he went on to work as a Semi Truck driver for Mountain Valley Express. He worked for Mountain Valley for 17 years. During his time there he was awarded driver of the year multiple times and also won several safety awards.
In 2009 the California Trucking Association recognized Ernie as one of the industry's safest drivers. He was named the Southern California Driver of the Year. In the awards ceremony it was noted that Ernie had 40 years of driving experience, and racked up more than 2.2 million accident and citation-free miles.
Upon his retirement from Mountain Valley he moved to Shady Cove Oregon close to the Rogue River where he enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature. In life Ernie loved listening to music, watching the Green Bay Packers and riding his motorcycle. He also loved spending time with his family and was young at heart. He touched many lives.
He is preceded in death by parents Albin and Mary Hericks, and his daughter Sandra. Also the loves of his life Nancy, Regina, Mary Lou and Chenoa. Also, his brothers-in-law Bill, Ronald, Gene, and Donald.
He is survived by his siblings Anita, Rosalie, Lavern, Arlene, Dianne (LeRoy), Marian (Roger), Celia, Lynda (Mike), and Randy (Mary). His children Sharron Hericks, Gina and Tina Burton, Charlotte ( Moses) Fatafehi. His grand children Brandon, Michael, Amy, Heather, Brittany, Tyler, Richard, Quintin, Max, Miriam, Viliami and Luseane and great grandchildren Frank and Isabel.
