Ernest Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller-Stewart Funeral Home on Dec. 5, 2025.
Ernest "Ernie" J. Miller, 91, of New Paris, went to be with his Lord and savior at 11:00 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Goshen Hospital, Goshen. He was born on February 12, 1934, in Bremen, IN, to John and Anna (Miller) Miller. On March 31, 1956, in Goshen, IN he married Virginia Miller, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Terri Sheeley of Goshen; three sons, Kent (Elaine) Miller of Nashville, TN, Cary (Christine) Miller of Columbus, NC, Jon (Stephanie) Miller of Middlebury; 13 grandchildren, Krystl, Kolby, Nicole, Danielle, Chase, Blake, Catlin, Courtney, Caris, Tristin, Halee, Jiselle, Jaxton; 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Ernie will be remembered as a mischievous and funny man with sparkly blue eyes. With a smile he could turn your day around. He was faithful to the Lord, to his wife (they almost made it to 70 years of marriage!), a true family man. A jack of all trades, including but not limited to master gardener, bird lover, golfer, softball player, woodworker, and farmer. He was a talented inventor, he could engineer into reality whatever idea he came up with. He was a storyteller, made his own wine, always up for a game of cards, and always had a project going on in his shop. He made countless trips with his family to fish on Spooner Lake and many times raced out to rescue them when the motor went out on the fishing boat. He always cleaned all our fish! Early in his life he was a designer for Starcraft and worked there for 15 years. He taught his family the importance of hard work and that you are never too old to take on a new hobby. He truly didn't know a stranger and even up until the end he was giving God the glory for such a good life. He would say, "God has been SO good." Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Friday December 12, 2025, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury, IN. Funeral services will follow visitation starting at 1:00 pm also on Friday at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Malaki Stewart. Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen, IN.
