Ernest Eugene Register

Ernest Eugene Register, age 80, of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on January 5, 1945 in Baxley, Georgia to Malcolm and Sarah (Simmons) Register. He was raised in Lake Panasoffkee, Florida and moved to Tampa, Florida shortly after graduating from South Sumter High School. Retirement brought him back to Lake Panasoffkee where he could enjoy the outdoor activities he loved.

Ernest met and married the love of his life, Mary, shortly after moving to Tampa. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing and air boating. Ernest also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Ernest is survived by Mary his wife of 61 years, daughter Cheryl (David) Whisenant of Zephyrhills, FL, daughter Cindy (Vince) Kelley of Riverview, FL. Ernest is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Shannon Whisenant, Zachary (Hunter) Whisenant, Steven (Sarah) Kelley, Katie (Colin) Mac Leod, and Sarah Kelley and two great-grandchildren, Ernest Kelley and Roland Kelley. He is also survived by brothers Carl (Carol) Register, and David (Sandy) Register and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Whisenant, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends at Purcell Chapel, 114 W. Noble Ave. in Bushnell, Florida on Saturday, January 3rd from 9am – 10am followed by a funeral service from 10am – 11am.
