Ernest Reyes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Feb. 26, 2026.
Ernest "Ernie" Reyes, 70, of Murray, Utah, passed away on February 23, 2026 in his home with his loving wife by his side.

Born May 28, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Federico and Clara Reyes. Ernie graduated from Granite High School and went on to be a Locksmith with the Salt Lake City School District for 38 years. He met the love of his life Diana in 1986, and they went on to raise 3 beautiful children together.

Ernie enjoyed life to the fullest from traveling the world with his wife, to never missing a single performance, or sporting event of his grandkids. It's safe to say when he wasn't with his family, he was at the softball park. Playing softball for over 50 years, winning championships, world titles, and even getting inducted into two separate Hall of Fames for softball. If he wasn't playing, he was walking around making life long friends.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diana Reyes; his sons, Anthony Reyes (Jen Reyes), Michael Reyes (Cierra Mitchell); his daughter, Patricia McPhie (Brysen McPhie); and his 11 adored grandchildren, Celeste (Steven), Aliyette, Jayden, Gabriel, Marcus, Tatum, Gavin, Letty, Taelee, Dawson, and Luka. Ernie is also survived by his siblings Fred (Esther) Reyes, Erlinda Anderson, Ted Reyes (Laurie), Lita (Tom) Schriver, Vicky (Sean) Settles, Michael (Chris) Reyes, Steven (Debra) Reyes, David (Kallie) Reyes. He was preceded in death by his parents Federico and Clara Reyes, and his brother Randy Reyes.

A viewing for Ernie will be held March 6, 2026 at Premier Funeral Services (Midvale Location) between 6-8pm. A mass will be held March 7, 2026 at 11 A.M at St. Anns Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery. A luncheon will follow back at St. Anns.

Ernie's playful spirit, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing this Legendary Man.
