Mr. Ernest Roger Phaneuf Jr., 76 a native of Greenfield, Massachusetts and a resident of New Llano, La passed away on Wednesday November 22, 2023 in Katy, Texas.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday December 1, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Rowe Funeral Home 1352 Belview Road Leesville, Louisiana. A visitation will begin on Thursday November 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday December 1, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home until the time of services. Interment will follow at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 3348 University Parkway Leesville, Louisiana 71446. Pastor Yon-Seouk will officiate the funeral services.

Mr. Phaneuf was born in Massachusetts and raised in Vermont, Ernie was a life-long nature lover, hunter and fisherman. So it was no surprise when he decided to call Louisiana "The Sportsman's Paradise" home not long after being stationed to Ft. Polk in 1984. He retired from the Army in 1987 and spent many years enjoying a quiet life with his family and many cats and dogs. Frequently seen enjoying a couple of beers and playing cards at American Legion Post 387, he enjoyed shootin' the breeze and helping out friends and strangers whenever he could. He attended Old Paths Baptist Church of New Llano. He is survived by his wife of 55 years,
Hyo-Suk Phaneuf; his daughter, Leesa Phaneuf-Reynolds, his son-in-law Matthew Reynolds; A
granddaughter, Mika Reynolds; One son, Ernest Phaneuf III and his son's life partner Jennah
Freitas; And host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Roger Phaneuf Sr. and Geneva Irene Vivier Phaneuf.
Pallbearers will be performed by the military.
