Mr. Ernest Dale Stokes, age 79, died on Thursday August 18, 2022 at his residence. The Camden, SC native was a graduate of Ashewood High School in Bishopville, SC. Dale was an ironworker who traveled extensively in the beginning years of marriage before moving to Brooklet in 1989. He was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his son Michael Stokes, his parents Darlen Stokes and Annie Lillian Baker; a brother and sister-in-law Broadus and Barbara Stokes; a sister and brother-in-law Rita and Raymond Benton; a nephew Ray Benton and a niece Christie Miano.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years Jane Butler Stokes of Brooklet; three sons Emery (Kim) Stokes of Gaston, SC, Jodie (Shelley) Stokes of Brooklet, Derek (Montine) Stokes of Brooklet; a daughter Georgia Lynne (Andrew) Miller of Montrose, GA; 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law Wade and Shelby Stokes of Bishopville, SC; a sister and brother-in-law Eva Lane and Lewis Jackson of Sumter, SC; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family memorial service will be held.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
